Depth Of Field

I picked this image because I think that it demonstrates shallow depth of field, The soft, blurred background makes the color and detail of the pipe really pop. With a deeper depth of field, the small details would not be as noticeable.

This picture is a great example of shallow depth of field because the background is blurred, but Adrian is completely in focus. To edit this picture I used the Lightroom brush tool to smooth his skin and brighten his eyes to make them stand out.

Shallow depth of field makes this picture interesting. With a deeper depth of field this shot would look like any other boring railing. By focusing on one place and blurring everything else, I got a more interesting and unique image.

Stop Motion Harlem Shake

In our video we used stop motion techniques to make toys and action figures dance and move around to the harlem shake.

Project 7

This tilt shift photo was taken from the top of a parking garage in downtown Portland Oregon. To edit it, I blurred the back and foreground. Then I used a brush to keep the two buildings in focus. Next I increased the contrast and saturation to give the picture more color.

This is my second tilt ship. This image was taken on the Vista bridge in downtown Portland Oregon. To edit this photo I blurred the background and foreground and boosted the saturation and contrast. I like this picture because the tilt shift effect makes the picture look miniature.

For this picture I used the daguerreotype effect. This shows what a photo taken with an older film camera would look like. I took the original image on the Oregon coast. To edit this picture I added multiple textures to the photo and blended them together to give it an older look.

Project 6

This is a combination of 3 pictures stitched together to create a panorama. These photos were taken at my house in my backyard. I used Photoshop to combine the 3 pictures into 1 panorama. I also increased the temperature to give a warmer feel to the image. The last step was to decrease the brightness so the sky wouldn't be so washed out.

This is a multiple exposure containing 2 photos. The picture in the background was taken on the vista bridge in Portland Oregon. The bars were created from a picture of a fence in Washington park. To create this multiple exposure I layered the pictures on top of each other. Then I lowered the opacity to 50% so the city could easily be seen through the bars.

This multiple exposure is composed of 2 pictures taken at Manzanita beach on the Oregon coast. I layered the pictures on top of each other and lowered the opacity of the second picture so they would blend together nicely.

This HDR (high dynamic range) photo was taken in my front yard. I had to use the HDR technique because the house casts a shadow over half the yard. This prevents the camera from being able to sense the lights and darks together. For this HDR I shot 3 pictures, each with a different exposure. I used photoshop to blend the three together to capture both the lights and darks. Finally, I increased the exposure and decreased the darks in the picture.

Geoffrey H. Short's photography

Geoffrey Short takes photos of explosions because he loves the thrill that it gives him. I really love the colors that he is able to capture in action. Short's images show unique shapes that would not normally be seen. We can't get very close to an explosion like these, which makes his photos special.

My favorite images from 1st quarter

This was taken on the Oregon Coast in Manzanita Oregon. I like the beautiful colors that the sun creates and the contrast between the dark rock and the bright sky.

I like this picture because of the shallow depth of field. The camera is focused on the detail of the bush, with a colorful blurred background.

This is a simple grid.  I took 1 shot and copied it to make a 4 image square. I love the detail of the water drops on the bright green leaf.
